The municipality of Stockholm has a surface of ca 215 km² and a population of ca 974 075 inhabitants. It was created in 1971 and its residence is the city of Stockholm, which is also the capital of Sweden. The municipality has 28 registration districts and 1 urban area (with 14 districts).
