Hälsingland is located in Norrland (central Sweden), being with its ca 14 265 km² (3,5% of the whole country) the 10th biggest province of all 25. The province includes 3 counties and it belongs to the diocese of Uppsala. It has a population of ca 131 325 inhabitants (18th place of 25), thus having a density of only ca 9 inhabitants/km².
The highest point is Garpknölen in Härjedalens kommun (northwestern Hälsingland) with 669 m. The biggest lake is Norra Dellen (ca 80 km², altitude of 42 m), located in the north of the province. The plant symbol of the province is the flax (lin) and the animal symbol is the Eurasian lynx (lodjuret). Other symbols: the Ural owl bird (slagugglan), the ide fish (id), the moorland clouded yellow butterfly (svavelgul höfjäril), the apple sort Bergvik, the fungus sweet tooth (blek taggsvamp), the common haircap moss (stor björnmossa), the rock type dellenit and the element of nickel (nickel/Ni).

The biggest city in Hälsingland is Hudiksvall with ca 16 400 inhabitants. Princess Madeleine (b. 1982) is duchess of Hälsingland.
